We believe that Reiki is best taught in person so that the Reiki teacher can share their knowledge and experience in both teaching and practice.
Although it can be learned online, much is lost.
Levels of training
Usui Reiki training was originally taught over long periods of time, under the guidance of a Reiki master.
Today it is generally taught through three levels.
Each level is a journey and although today many people expect to learn quickly, Reiki is best learned at a pace that honours the nature of this gentle energy.
Each person should follow their own journey with Reiki, sensing when the time is right to learn more or to feel happy with where they are with Reiki.
Reiki is empowering enough to help us know what we need.
Attunements.
Attunements to Reiki are the way in which the Reiki teacher passes on the ability to channel Reiki.
It is sometimes likened to tuning a radio into a certain frequency.
The Attunements begin a shift that removes any energetic blocks and allows us to freely channel Reiki.
It is the beginning of our first steps on our own healing journey.
Who can learn to practice Reiki?
Anyone with the desire to learn can train to practice Reiki.
It does not require a person to be "gifted in the healing arts" or to be perceptive to psychic awareness.
An honest desire to learn and an inquisitive mind that is interested in knowing more about Reiki are all that’s needed.
It would be good if experience of a Reiki treatment has taken place before training, but it’s not essential.
Do I need to do all of the training levels to practice Reiki?
It is not necessary to do all the training levels. The first day of Reiki 1st degree is all the training necessary to be able to do a treatment on oneself.
If this is all you want from a Reiki practice, it is enough and will serve you well.
Once you have received the attunement and the 1st degree training, Reiki is always there for you.
